Rwanda Initiative for Sustainable Development (RISD)will tomorrow the 14th of December 2016 launch RISD ICT4D tool at Umubano Hotel, from 3.00 – 6.30pm. The tool is developed to assist in mapping and monitoring land related disputes.
“We are convinced that this tool is a break through towards the possible sustainable strategies on reducing land related disputes, as it assists in identification, recording and reporting of disputes. This is in support of timely management of disputes by various relevant institutions, in particular Abunzi, MAJ and Local Leaders”. Said Director Annie Kairaba the director of RISD.
The tool has been piloted in Kimironko Sector, Gasabo District, and this launch event is particularly an opportunity to share experience of ICT in sustainable disputes management.
The event will also be used to bid farewell to Bishop Nathan Kamusiime Gasatura as the outgoing Chairperson of RISD Board, and to welcome Prof. Silas Lwakabamba the incoming Chairperson.
One of the best outstanding initiatives of RISD under the leadership of Bishop, is the RISD ICT4D, and as he stated, ‘I couldn’t leave RISD as the Chairperson, before seeing this Tool in reality, now I leave in confidence in terms of Sustainability Initiatives in this country – I will keep asking Professor how good the baby is growing up’.
