A training session in Mugina at Kivumu Primary School
Last December 2009 saw one of the largest numbers of Local leaders graduate from a training that equipped them with skills
in Land Dispute Management. The training targeted Local leaders at the Sector and Cell levels who often come face to face
with Land related Disputes in the day to day execution of their duties. This training benefited over 400 participants in 10 Cells
from 5 Sectors in 4 districts. These areas included Gatsata Sector in Gasabo District in the Cells of Nyamabuye and Karuruma,
Mugina Sector in Kamonyi District in the Cells of Kabugondo and Jenda, Gahini Sector in Kayonza District in the Cells of Urugarama
and Kiyenzi, Nyamirama Sector also in Kayonza District in the Cells of Gikaya and Rurambi, and Rwaza Sector Musanze District in
the Cells of Nturo and Nyarubuye.

After an intensive three days training participants received certificates. In implementing this programme RISD works in partnership
with District authorities, the Land Centre and Donors.
Present to award Certificates at one of the functions in Kayonza were; Director General of Land Center Dr. Emmanuel Nkurunziza,
President National Land Commission Dr. Peter Bazimya, Vice Mayor Kayonza and Gahini Sector Legal Affairs Officer Mr. Ndinda.
Others present included RISD staff, Partners and members of the press.
